The Flower Lamp

Hey all. How was your holiday?

Thanksgiving Break is now officially over for me. I gave myself a break these past few days because I had a crapload of cooking to do for both the family events I attended(Ok, a crap load for a woman with two time consuming children and a husband who was working through the holiday) and The Husband and I also celebrated a wedding anniversary. And I don't want to detract from the special events of my life by taking extra time to worry about planning a blog about them as they happen. I just want to be there, in those moments and enjoy my family and our milestones. Which I did!

I am a teensy bit sad that I didn't at least photograph the cakes and corn casserole I made, because they were darn good, but I'll make them again, no doubt.

We were not really supposed to buy each other anniversary gifts this year, because we've spent so much money on this darned house, but something I have wanted since I saw one at a relative's house(she was an old lady) came up for sale in a local second hand store and The Husband decided to surprise me.

Yep, it is a lamp!

I. LOVE. LAMP.

It is the perfect mix of old lady and Alice In Wonderland. For me, anyway.

And yes, I am aware of how much work the trim in this room needs. And no, that's not dust. Because I tried to wipe it up. See, I do have a tiny bit of pride left.

Old House is Money Pit and needs never ending work. And light does weird things on weird surfaces. Thus, my face.

Anyhow, this also is not the room this lamp will end up in, but we are still trying to decide where it will look the best, and by "look the best" I mean "be the safest from the wild band of marauders we call our children".

I mean, let's face it. These are glass flowers the size of basketballs. They are magnets for danger. I'm living on the edge just by having this thing around.

It sure is pretty, though.

And it'll be a great asset to my room in the nursing home.

If it survives that long.
